Preparing the Garden for Spring

preparing the garden for spring

As I sit here in the warmth of my living room I can see the sun shine down on my slightly overlooked back garden and the wind blow through the long grass.  I am itching to start spending more time outside but know there are a few jobs I need to do so I can enjoy it fully in the coming months.

Here’s my list of jobs to be done before Spring sets in so you can enjoy the garden fully:

  • Give old pots a new lease of life with a lick of paint and some new plants
  • Mow the grass, avoiding any bulbs
  • Rejuvenate garden beds with some mulch to provide much needed nutrients
  • Clean patio tiles and pull out weeds (pressure washers can be useful here)
  • Scrub down and varnish old patio chairs and tables
  • Check fences for signs of wear, paint and replace where required (perhaps choose a new colour to liven things up)

What have you been up to in the garden this week?  Any must do things that I’ve missed?
